The Senate approved on Monday President Donald Trump’s nominee to a new term on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, helping stabilize the agency’s leadership at a time when the White House is trying to breathe new life into the nuclear sector.
David Wright’s nomination was approved by a 50-39 vote. He had previously served as an NRC member, but the Trump administration nominated him to be chair on Trump’s first day in office.
Wright now begins a refreshed five-year term alongside three other NRC members. One membership slot is vacant.
