Senate Green New Deal Vote Possible Later This Month

Senate Republicans will have to wait at least another 10 days or so to force Democrats who back a Green New Deal resolution to vote for it on the floor.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who said this week he would hold the vote to force the Green New Deal’s supporters to go on record, could bring the resolution to the floor as early as the week of Feb. 25, McConnell aides said.

McConnell announced Feb. 14 he’ll fast-track the Senate joint resolution, bypassing committee action.
