The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee deadlocked 10-10 Tuesday on advancing President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Energy Department’s Office of Electricity, thwarting Democrats’ attempts to fill an office that oversees electric grid research and modernization.
Maria Robinson, who currently serves in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and leads the chamber’s Clean Energy Caucus, garnered support from all committee Democrats but faced unanimous opposition from Republican members over her support for renewable energy and for phasing out fossil fuels.
