Senate Confirms Trump’s Pick to Become EPA’s Number Two

The Senate on Tuesday approved President Donald Trump’s pick to become the EPA’s second-highest ranking official.

David Fotouhi’s nomination to become deputy administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency cleared the Senate by a 53-41 party-line vote.

In his new role, Fotouhi will closely oversee the EPA’s day-to-day operations and play a pivotal role in unwinding Biden-era climate and pollution rules.

He will also work closely with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to overhaul the agency’s operations, scrutinize grant funding, and build relationships with private industry.
