A Senate committee on Wednesday approved Douglas Troutman to serve as the EPA’s assistant administrator for toxic substances, moving President Donald Trump’s nominee one step closer to consideration by the Senate.
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved with a 10-9 vote Troutman’s nomination to oversee the Environmental Protection Agency’s chemicals and pesticide offices.
If confirmed, the former American Cleaning Institute lobbyist would shape rules the EPA is working on to restrict the use of certain chemicals used in commerce.
