The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday voted 14-6 to advance Katherine MacGregor’s nomination for deputy Interior secretary.
If confirmed, it would be MacGregor’s second stint as deputy Interior secretary, a role she served during the last year of the first Trump administration. She had previously been deputy chief of staff to then-Interior Secretary David Bernhardt.
Before joining Interior in 2017, MacGregor served under Republicans as a House Natural Resources Committee staffer.
After leaving the first Trump administration, she served as vice president of environmental services for NextEra Energy Inc. in Florida.
