Sempra Taps Environmental Advocate to Make Gas Utility Cleaner

Sempra Energy tapped Jonathan Peress from the Environmental Defense Fund as America’s largest natural gas utility seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Peress will join Sempra’s SoCalGas utility on May 18 as senior director of regulatory affairs, tasked with advancing climate solutions for the company.

“Last year we unveiled a plan for a 21st century energy system that focuses on affordable solutions to achieving the state’s climate goals,” Maryam Brown, president of SoCalGas, said in an emailed statement.
