S.Korea Conveys Concerns Over EV Tax Credit Plan to US (Aug. 11)

South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy conveyed concerns to US that proposed tax credit support for electric vehicles could potentially violate bilateral free trade agreement and WTO rules, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

  • Ministry also asked US to ease the requirements for final vehicle assembly and battery parts
  • Ministry held a meeting on Thursday with Hyundai Motor and South Korean battery makers, including LG Energy Solution, SK On and Samsung SDI
