Russia Launches Cleanup of Highly Polluted Areas, Allocating Funds to Priority Projects

Russia has approved funding for a list of priority projects aimed at cleaning up legacy industrial pollution that is having significant environmental and human health impacts.

The priority projects include cleanup of oil spills, mines and industrial sites. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed the order Dec. 4, and the government published the document Dec. 11.
