Backed by a resolution, Russia wants to start regulating waste recycling and automatically collect environmental fees from businesses that use a range of goods and packaging.
The resolution (N 1520) calls for a system to be in place by the end of this year that will list all manufacturers and importers of goods that produce the type of waste that must be properly disposed of in accordance with federal law N 89-FZ.
The state environmental watchdog Rosprirodnadzor will operate the system, which will automatically calculate the environmental fee for every registered company.
