Revising Chemicals Law Requires Bipartisan Buy-in, Advisers Say

Democratic votes are essential to secure changes to the nation’s primary chemicals law that offer US manufacturers needed predictability so domestic industries can thrive, Capitol Hill staff and chemical industry officials said at a conference on Tuesday.

Congress needs to revise portions of the 2016 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) amendments, said Jake Kennedy, a senior staffer focusing on environmental policy for Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.)—chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
