Republican Conservation Caucus Touts Environmental Efforts

Congressional Republicans announced a new bicameral caucus March 1 to highlight their land conservation work.

One of the new Roosevelt Conservation Caucus’ priorities will be resolving the nearly $12 billion maintenance backlog at national parks, said Rob Sisson, president of ConservAmerica, a Republican-affiliated conservation group that helped pull the caucus together.

Other priorities will include work on the Endangered Species Act and on air and water issues—but with a strong emphasis on limited government, said Benji Backer, president of the American Conservative Coalition, the main outside advocacy group working with the caucus.
