A new report calls 2025 “a year of loss” for the clean energy sector, with project cancellations and downsizes totaling $34.8 billion in abandoned investment and more than 38,000 manufacturing jobs eliminated.
The report, released by the nonpartisan business group E2 (Economy and Environment), provides a full-year analysis of large-scale clean energy project announcements, cancellations, closures, and downsizes. The cost of clean energy cancellations and downsizes in 2025 was nearly three times the $12.3 billion in new investment that had been announced, according to the report.
