Wind and solar energy developers on public land will see fees drop by about 80% and will be able to lease some federal parcels without a competitive lease sale under a rule finalized by the Biden administration Thursday.
The Interior Department announced the final Renewable Energy Rule to promote the development of solar and wind energy on public lands. Interior officials described the final rule as delivering greater certainty for the private sector and a greater opportunity for more clean energy development.
