Rare Diesel Cargoes Head to Australia from US West Coast (1)

A string of tankers carrying diesel from the US West Coast has begun arriving in Australia, with several more on the way, as the continent tries to contain a fuel crisis triggered by the Iran war.

Two tankers discharged 525,000 barrels of ultra-low sulfur diesel this week from British Petroleum’s Cherry Point Refinery in Washington state to Australia, according to port data compiled by energy analytics company Vortexa.

Three more tankers on the route are due to follow soon, carrying another 925,000 barrels of ULSD and signaling their destination as Australia.
