Quicker EPA Review Offered for New Energy-Use Chemicals (1)

New chemicals that can be used for electric vehicle batteries, semiconductors, and renewable energy will get a streamlined risk review to determine whether they can be produced in the US, the EPA announced Wednesday.

The Environmental Protection Agency also issued a compliance advisory reminding companies that the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) requires that new compounds—ones that haven’t been made in or imported into the US before—must be reviewed and approved by the agency before production, importation, or use.
