Uncovered Waste at Puerto Rico Landfill Is Unsafe, EPA Says

Management practices at a landfill in Puerto Rico are causing unsafe conditions for nearby residents and the environment, the EPA said in a complaint filed in federal district court Thursday.

The municipal landfill in Toa Alta could be contributing to the spread of disease by not covering solid waste deposited there, the Environmental Protection Agency told the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
