Pruitt Pushing for More Thorough, Faster Superfund Cleanups

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is pushing for more thorough, faster Superfund cleanups, a regional administrator said.

Pruitt is asking staff to go further and faster in discussions about Superfund site remedies, according to regional staff, but those decisions have yielded mixed reactions from companies investing in Superfund site cleanup.

"[Pruitt] wants to be as protective as possible,” Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 Acting Deputy Regional Administrator Walter Mugdan said at a conference co-sponsored by the American Law Institute and the Environmental Law Institute Feb. 8 in Washington.
