The solar energy industry didn’t get quite the “life-changing” rules it was hoping for in newly proposed regulations on qualified property for real estate investment trust (REIT) status, but the rules do provide investors greater clarity and some reason for optimism about renewable energy property that falls in line with the code, analysts told Bloomberg BNA.
“There are a lot of folks who saw the reg come out and initially thought this was going to be the dawn of what people are calling ‘solar REITs,’ ” Gregory Jenner, a partner in Stoel Rives LLP’s Washington office, said May 14.
