Proposed PFAS Class Action to Stay in Ohio (2)

Federal judges have declined to transfer a high-stakes lawsuit that seeks to establish a nationwide class of people with PFAS in their blood to a complex bundle of litigation in South Carolina.

The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Wednesday ruled the proposed class action in Ohio doesn’t belong in the cluster of cases in South Carolina that focus on exposure to types of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances found in firefighting foam.

The ruling is a victory for plaintiff Kevin Hardwick, a Cincinnati-area firefighter for 40 years, who wants chemical manufacturers to fund a scientific panel to study potential health ...
