PPG, Unions Offer Worker Safety Plan for Trichloroethylene Rule

PPG Industries Inc. and two unions are asking a federal appeals court to approve an agreement they reached over the EPA’s rule restricting trichloroethylene and to use that approach to deal with other industries’ concerns about the regulation.

The Environmental Protection Agency and parties challenging a Biden-era EPA rule phasing out the use of trichloroethylene (TCE), a solvent used by various industries that’s a known carcinogen, submitted letters Thursday to the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
