Power Plant Emissions Should Be Part of Pipeline Review: Court

Carbon emissions from gas-burning power plants should have been considered in federal regulators’ review of a Florida natural gas pipeline, a federal appeals court ruled Aug. 22, siding with conservation groups.

The case is the second in two weeks in which a federal court insisted that federal agencies consider indirect environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions, when reviewing a fossil fuel project. In the earlier one, a Montana federal district court on Aug. 14 ruled to block a coal mine expansion plan by Signal Peak Energy.
