Power Line OK’d to Move Energy From Continent’s Top Wind Source

The Biden administration approved construction of the TransWest Express transmission project in what it called a milestone to upgrade the power grid infrastructure in the West.

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management issued a notice to proceed on Tuesday to build the high-voltage transmission line that will extend 732 miles from Wyoming through Colorado and Utah and end in southern Nevada.

The TransWest line will carry power generated by the 3,000-megawatt Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project, the largest onshore wind generation project in North America. The project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs during construction. ...
