MADRID—The Portuguese government March 14 published a law regulating geological storage of carbon dioxide in late compliance with EU requirements.
Decree-Law 60/2012, effective March 15, transposed Directive 2009/31/EC on the geological storage of carbon dioxide and established a general framework for this activity in Portugal.
EU member states were to have brought into force all laws, regulations, and provisions necessary for compliance with the directive by June 25, 2011.
