A Transportation Department agency indicated Tuesday it’s looking to cut back on pipeline safety rules in order to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive orders promoting fossil fuel resources and deregulation.
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued two advanced notices of proposed rulemaking asking for public comments on whether requirements for pipeline safety and hazardous materials should be repealed or amended.
The goal is to “eliminate undue burdens on the energy industry and improve government efficiency,” according to an agency statement.
