PFAS in Children’s Place Uniforms Harmful, Fraudulent, Suit Says

A national children’s clothing store violated Illinois’ consumer protection law by selling school uniforms containing PFAS, according to a class action complaint filed in a federal district court.

Tops, pants, and other clothes mandated by a public school in Chicago and purchased from The Children’s Place contained per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), Angala Garland told the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in a complaint filed on Thursday. Garland purchased the clothes for her son, she said.

The chemicals are harmful, particularly to young children, the complaint said.
