Petroleum Refinery Settles Clean Air Allegations for $23 Million

Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing LLC and its affiliated companies will pay more than $23 million to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Air Act and a previous consent decree at its petroleum refinery in Coffeyville, Kan., according to the EPA Monday.

CRRM’s alleged violations resulted in the illegal emissions of more than 2,300 excess tons of sulfur dioxide from the refinery’s flares from 2015 to 2017, the Environmental Protection Agency said.
