Petrobras, Total to Gauge Direction of Wind, Solar Projects in Brazil

Brazil’s state oil company Petrobras and France’s Total S.A. agreed to assess jointly building wind and solar parks in Brazil, Petrobras announced.

Nelson Silva, director of strategy, organization, and systems management for Petrobras, said in a July 10 conference call that the two oil and gas giants will analyze together the viability of creating a new firm to invest in and construct the wind and solar energy parks in northeastern Brazil. The region enjoys favorable coastal winds and year-round sunshine.
