PETA can put advertisements on Metro buses in LA, a federal judge ruled, finding that the county’s prohibition on noncommercial ads violates the First Amendment.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sued Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, after Outfront, a media company that manages the county’s Metro bus ad sales, rejected the nonprofit’s attempts to place ads in the buses. Outfront told PETA that because the ads were noncommercial, it needed a government sponsor in order to place them.
