The Pentagon could soon resume the incineration of PFAS-containing materials following a temporary ban imposed by Congress, according to a top official.
Brendan Owens, assistant secretary of defense for energy, installations and environment, said in a statement that the Department of Defense posted online this week: “DoD will not resume incineration for a minimum of 45 days.”
It will provide notice on its PFAS website “at least two weeks before the department begins using incineration as a disposal option,” Owens wrote.
