Pebble Mine Owner Undaunted by EPA Review of Alaskan Project (1)

The company behind the Pebble Mine says it’s forging ahead despite the EPA’s Thursday bid to restart a process that could sharply limit, or even end, a massive gold and copper project in southwestern Alaska.

The Pebble Partnership “will continue to monitor these developments closely to determine the possible impacts to the project and permitting process,” spokesman Mike Heatwole said in an email Friday.

The mine is also aligned with the Biden administration’s broader goals to reduce carbon emissions and electrify the energy and transportation sectors, Heatwole said.
