A $600 million toll bridge project near North Carolina’s Outer Banks aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving storm evacuation efforts can proceed, a federal court in the state ruled in a loss for environmental groups.
Federal and state officials considered the environmental effects when they approved the Mid-Currituck Bridge project, according to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. The officials also considered alternatives to the project as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, the court said Monday.
