Oregon Zero-Emissions Energy Bill Clears House, Heads to Senate

The Oregon House on Friday passed a clean energy bill that would require 100% emissions free electricity by 2040 and essentially ban new oil, gas, and coal-fired generation.

The measure heads to the Democratic-controlled Senate, where supporters are cautiously optimistic about passage sometime this weekend. Republicans did walk out of a June 2019 vote to stymie a bill that would have set mandatory greenhouse gas emissions cuts through emissions trading.
