Oregon Fossil Fuel Company Deception Case Sent to State Court

An Oregon county successfully got its case moved to state court where it claimed fossil fuel companies didn’t warn consumers about the negative effects of their products.

The County of Multnomah sued Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp., and others in the US District Court for the District of Oregon, alleging public nuisance, negligence, trespass, and fraud under state law.

District Judge Adrienne Nelson on Monday adopted recommendations made by US Magistrate Judge Youlee Yim You, who said the suit should go to state court because the companies didn’t show one of the defendants, Space Age Fuel Inc. ...
