ORB Exploration to Pay $715K for Oil Spills in Louisiana

A Louisiana oil company agreed to pay $715,000 in fines and cleanup costs related to three oils spills in the Atchafalaya River Basin, federal prosecutors announced (United States v. ORB Exploration LLC, M.D. La., 3:16-cv-00260, 4/22/16).

The April 22 consent decree settles alleged violations of the Clean Water Act and state environmental laws by Lafayette- based ORB Exploration LLC. The spills took place in 2013 and 2015, prosecutors said. The company also agreed to implement corrective measures to correct alleged violations at two of its facilities and a storage barge.
