Oil Majors Make New High Court Bid in Baltimore Climate Case (1)

Chevron Corp. and other top energy companies are asking the Supreme Court to take another look at an appellate decision in Baltimore’s climate liability lawsuit.

A circuit panel erred in rejecting oil company appeals to keep Baltimore’s case under federal jurisdiction, according to a petition industry attorneys filed on Friday.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled twice that there was no basis to strip Baltimore’s case from state court, even after the Supreme Court sent the case back for a second look at a broader set of oil company arguments.
