Oil, Gas Lessor Challenges Interior’s Royalty Refund Denials

The owner of several Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas leases challenged the Interior Department’s allegedly unlawful decision to affirm denials of the company’s refund and allowance requests.

The agency’s decision to affirm the denials wasn’t based on an objective audit and violated the Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Management Act, Woodside Energy Americas Inc. said in a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
