President Trump’s nominee to lead the Interior Department, David Bernhardt, said the agency would treat Maine’s opposition to offshore drilling as a major consideration as the agency develops a proposal to sell oil and gas leases on the U.S. outer continental shelf.
Bernhardt gave the assurance to Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), during a confirmation hearing March 28, stressing that the process reflects “extensive input from the states.”
