The EPA won’t enforce violations of a 2021 regulation that largely banned a flame retardant if that chemical is used in wires and cables nuclear power plants need, the agency announced in an enforcement statement.
The Environmental Protection Agency will propose a revised rule this fall that includes a new compliance date by which the flame retardant, decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), would be banned in the wires and cables required by power plants, the agency said in the statement on Wednesday.
