North Dakota Oil Production Cuts Deepen Amid US Cold Snap (1)

North Dakota oil producers have cut even more of the state’s crude output as frigid weather snarls operations, with more than half of the state’s flows curtailed.

About 650,000 to 700,000 barrels a day of oil output has been taken offline because of the weather and related operational challenges, Justin Kringstad, director of the state’s pipeline authority, said in an email. That’s up from from Tuesday, when 600,000 to 650,000 barrels a day was offline. North Dakota, home to the Bakken shale formation, produced about 1.2 million barrels in October, the latest month for which data is available.
