Norse Energy’s Bankruptcy Unlikely To Affect Fracking Case, Attorney Says

A recent federal bankruptcy filing by the plaintiff in a major fracking case before New York’s highest court will not have a significant impact on the case moving forward, Thomas West, an attorney for plaintiff Norse Energy Corp., told Bloomberg BNA Oct. 21.

West said he expects another company to take over the leases owned by Norse Energy, a Norwegian oil and gas company, to explore for natural gas in New York.

“Once that occurs, the case will have a new name, but otherwise proceed before the New York Court of Appeals,’’ West said in an e-mail.
