No ‘Piecemeal’ Regulation for Forever Chemicals, California Says

California should regulate PFAS as a single group of chemicals under its Safer Consumer Products program, scientists in state’s Department of Toxic Substances Control office said Wednesday.

“It is both ineffective and impractical to regulate this complex class of chemicals with a piecemeal approach,” four department scientists wrote in a paper published in Environmental Health Perspectives. Their conclusions applied to the program that develops regulations to reduce toxic chemicals in products consumers use.
