No Chemical Fines for Three Types of Companies, EPA Assures (1)

The EPA assured three types of businesses on Thursday that they won’t be fined for failing to add their names to a list of companies on the hook for sharing $27 million in chemical risk evaluation fees.

The waiver applies to businesses that import cars, computers, furniture, and other products containing at least one of 20 chemicals under evaluation; manufacturers and importers that produce the chemicals as a byproduct of something else they make; and companies that make or import any of the chemicals as an impurity.
