NextEra Energy Inc., which owns Florida’s largest utility, plans to buy solar panels from a factory to be built in its home state by China-based JinkoSolar Holding Co.
This is the first such known deal since President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on solar panel imports.
The purchase over four years of about 7 million panels capable of generating 2,750 megawatts of power will help meet plans to quadruple the solar capacity of Florida Power & Light to 4,000 megawatts over the next decade, the utility’s parent NextEra said March 30 in a statement.
