Newly Enacted Florida Rule Sets Goal of 100% Renewable Energy

A Florida rule enacted Tuesday sets in motion a timeline for electric utilities to achieve a 100% renewable energy goal by 2050, with interim goals of at least 40% by 2030, 63% by 2035, and 82% by 2040.

The Sunshine State’s timeline requires electric utilities to submit 10-year energy plans to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which will be reported annually to the state’s public service commission, legislature, and governor.
