New York will start enforcing its ban on single-use plastic bags starting Oct. 19, following a court ruling on the issue, the state Department of Environmental Conservation announced Friday.
The ban, which took effect on March 1, was not enforced per an agreement between parties in a lawsuit brought against the state by an association of New York City bodega owners, a Bronx grocer, and a plastic bag manufacturer.
