New York Recycler Agrees to Penalties in Clean Air Act Suit (1)

A recycling company on Tuesday agreed to pay the federal government a $555,000 civil penalty in a case alleging a metal shredding facility wasn’t complying with with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act regulations.

Gershow Recycling Corp. failed to acquire an appropriate permit or install reasonably available control technology for its metal shredder at the Medford, N.Y., facility, the government said in its complaint filed with the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
