New York Moves to Ban Burning of Firefighting Foam With PFAS (1)

New York’s state Legislature has sent Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) a bill that would ban the burning of firefighting foam containing PFAS in a small upstate community.

The measure (A.9952B/S.7880), passed late Tuesday, would prohibit the burning of aqueous film-forming foam, known as AFFF, and associated perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS. It applies to Cohoes, an Albany County city where the Norlite Hazardous Waste facility is located.
