New York Leads States Suing Over Trump’s Offshore Wind Pause (1)

President Donald Trump and his administration overstepped their authority by halting federal offshore and onshore wind approvals, 17 states and Washington, D.C., said in a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court.

The January executive order paused permitting for wind projects, then last month the Trump administration halted work on an offshore wind farm being built off New York that had already secured permits.

Trump’s directive “stopped most wind-energy development in its tracks” and harmed states’ efforts to “secure reliable, diversified, and affordable sources of energy to meet the ever-increasing demand for electricity,” according to the complaint filed in the US ...
