New York Lawmakers Seek to Ban New Gasoline Cars by 2035 (Correct)

New York State lawmakers are looking to ban the sale of new gas-powered cars and trucks starting in 2035, under legislation aimed at decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.

The measure (S.2758/A.4302) would codify into law a state goal to have all in-state sales or leasing of new passenger cars and trucks, as well as off-road vehicles and equipment, be zero-emissions by 2035. All new medium- and heavy-duty vehicles sold would have to be zero-emissions by 2045, according to the bill.
